How to get there by ... car, on foot, by bus or by boat. Each walk is then meticulously described with many references to the texts, often quoting Beatrix's very words written as she gazed upon the same scene. The liberal sprinkling of sketches and matching photographs richly illustrate every page and can be easily matched to the landscape. Wynne Bartlett has spent a lot of time walking in the Lake District and this familiarity with the area helped her to identify many of the scenes in the Derwentwater Sketchbook of 1903, on which this book is based.
